Thrive: Managing Anxiety and Fear

The Preparatory Year Program and the Prep Science and Engineering Program recently delivered a lecture titled “Thrive: Managing Anxiety and Fear” presented by Dr. Mohammad Al-Zoubi to help preparatory year students better understand the difference between fear and anxiety, two common emotional responses that significantly affect students’ academic and personal lives.

During the lecture, Dr. Al-Zoubi discussed the psychological and physiological aspects of both concepts, explaining that fear is often a reaction to immediate threats, while anxiety is usually associated with uncertain or future concerns. The session introduced students to practical strategies for managing anxiety and coping with fear in healthy ways, including relaxation techniques, positive thinking, and effective time management skills.

The lecture also encouraged open discussion, giving students the opportunity to share their experiences and learn from one another in a supportive environment. By the end of the session, participants had developed greater self-awareness and gained valuable tools to improve their emotional well-being and academic performance.
