The Prep-Year Program and the Prep Math Program organized a fun and interactive math challenge titled “Escape the Prep-Year”, where students solved math puzzles hidden in different locations across Building 57 in order to progress through the game. The event aimed to challenge students to “escape” the Prep-Year Building by cracking codes, unlocking new locations, and successfully reaching the final destination.
The event sought to enhance students’ problem-solving skills, reinforce mathematical concepts, promote teamwork and collaboration, increase engagement and motivation, boost confidence in mathematics, and encourage effective time management. The competition was exclusively designed for Prep-Year students.
The challenge was conducted in two stages.
During the first stage, participants answered 30 multiple-choice questions covering basic algebra within 30 minutes. The top-performing students then advanced to the final round.
Eighteen students qualified for the final stage and were divided into six groups, with three students in each group. The final round took place in Building 57 and followed an interactive puzzle-based format. Each group solved a sequence of mathematical problems, where every correct answer revealed the location of the next room. Teams progressed through multiple levels of the building until reaching the ground floor.
The objective was to successfully “escape” the building by completing all challenges.
Congratulations to all the winners of this fun and exciting contest, and thank you to all participants for their enthusiasm and active participation.
